We’ve Changed Our Name — But Not Our Mission

When we originally launched it was a personal and urgent call to action. The response was overwhelming. People from all over stood with us, donated, shared, and spoke out. That support has meant the world.

But as this movement grew, so did our purpose.

What started as one family’s fight has become something bigger — a fight for every LGBTQ+ teen who has faced rejection, shame, or emotional abuse in their own home. We’ve heard story after story from parents, teachers, friends, and young people themselves. And they all point to the same heartbreaking truth: too many LGBTQ+ teens are suffering in silence, without the support and protection they deserve.

That’s why we’re proud to announce our new name:

The Affirming Project

This name reflects our expanded mission — to raise awareness about the mental health crisis facing LGBTQ+ youth and to take direct action by providing legal aid, counseling resources, and support systems that help teens find safe, affirming homes.

We’ll never forget why this began. Josiah’s story lit the spark. But this is no longer about just one child — it’s about all of them.

We believe:

    • Every LGBTQ+ teen deserves to be safe.

    • No one should be punished for who they are.

    • One affirming adult can change — and save — a life.

We’re building something bigger now. And we’re so glad you’re here with us.

Thank you for being part of The Affirming Project. Let’s keep fighting together.
